about us

While exploring some of Michigan’s plentiful outdoor trails I’ve encountered lots of young hikers who seem to be bored at the world around them. There is so much more to hiking than exercise and fresh air. Kids should be having fun learning about the world around them as well as something about themselves.

Painted rocks are miniature pieces of art that create tiny reminders that younger folks can have fun exploring nature, creating self-expression, and be ever mindful of the precious world around them. If you’re out and about in the wide-open spaces, chances are you might have come across a painted rock, maybe even one of ours. Please tell us about your adventure and send a picture of your masterpiece. We’d love to post it.

Please keep in mind: Nature is perfect just the way it is. The Rock Out Michigan program is all about making the outdoors fun to the younger hiker until they catch the spirit of nature, protection, and conservation. Please place your rocks next to well worn paths, benches, and sign markers. Be ever mindful of our environment and other hikers.

See you on trail!

Sincerely, Lynda and MacKenzie the wonder dog…
